When joining the FSA, you also become a member of either the ECA in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, or SELECT in Scotland. Both of these associations offer an extensive package of benefits and services including:

Members receive many free publications and can buy a large selection of technical publications and stationery, including the latest standards at very competitive prices.

Free use of Regional Offices

Subject to availability, members in England, Northern Ireland and Wales can use the meetings rooms at the Regional offices for events.

Health and Safety

Our own Health & Safety Advisers can provide you with a valued service to help resolve troublesome safety issues and to guide you through Health & Safety legislation. This advice helps members reduce risks and realise the benefits of effective health and safety management. The ECA also also offers FSA members free or discounted CHAS registration for eligible members and all members receive regular health and safety updates.

Marketing Support

To help you publicise your membership of the UK’s leading fire and security and electrical associations, you will be offered free supplies of promotional literature and FSA and ECA or SELECT logos for use on vehicles, company site boards etc. Support is also available to companies that wish to develop a business website.

Networking with other Professionals

Networking with other FSA and ECA or SELECT Members can benefit you in personal growth and widen your influence with business and social contacts.  ECA’s regular regional branch meetings across 12 regions, 11 regional offices and 53 branches, SELECT branch meetings,FSA meetings, road shows and open days provide a lively forum for the exchange of views, news and information and can open up new partnering opportunities.

Participation in the Development of a Major Industry

Members are encouraged to participate on FSA committees and give feedback to the association on all matters that affect the development of the industry from apprentice training to health and safety issues as well as all the other regulations and standards that affect our development. The FSA, as an operating division of the ECA and working in partnership with SELECT, is a democratic, member-driven, organisation.

Reassuring Clients - Offering your Customers Guarantees

Bond and Guarantee schemes are provided to FSA members in England and Wales to underwrite the quality of members’ work and when applicable effect completion, while the ECA Code of Fair Trading ensures good business practice. SELECT has its own guarantee arrangements in Scotland.

Technical Advice

The technical help lines provide immediate assistance on technical queries, from clarifying the regulations and British Standards that affect the fire and security systems industry through to help in addressing specific on-site issues. The technical team also produce a comprehensive range of, free to member, technical publications covering fire systems, emergency lighting, intruder alarm, CCTV, access control systems and electrical installation.

Training

The ECA and SELECT Education and Training departments offer a wide range of independently endorsed and accredited courses for FSA members designed to improve business practice and enhance individual performance. The FSA also works with partners such as the Fire Protection Association and Tavcom Training to provided discounted courses that lead to BTEC qualifications. Members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland also have annual access to the £10 million ECA Training Fund, which supports management development in member companies. Scottish members can benefit from SELECT's EETF grant funding.

TrustMark and CLE

Suitably qualified Members can sign up, free of charge, to the Government-supported consumer protection schemes – Trustmark for England, Wales and Northern Ireland and CLE for Scotland.
